Detailed Itinerary

 Day 1. Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and visit the city

Our driver will meet you at the airport and transfer to your hotel, settling in, and rest. You will meet your guide at the hotel. Discover the Chingis Khaan Square. In the evening, we will enjoy Mongolian performances including folk dances, throat singing and contortion at Tumen Ekh.

 Day 2. Fly to Dalanzadgad and discover the Yol Canyon

Yol Canyon - Khongor Sand Dunes

Driving:  190 km - 5 h
Hiking: 6 km

In the morning, we'll fly to Dalanzadgad. After arrival, we'll be picked up our driver and head to Yol Canyon in the Gobi Three Beauties National Park.The canyon is bearded vulture canyon, a deep narrow gorge with ice until in August. After seeing the a small museum at the entrance of the Park, we'll go on driving into to the National park and hike to discover the Canyon. After the hike, we'll drive to Khongor Sand Dunes. These dunes are the most spectacular ones in Mongolia. Stay there in a tent.

Day 3. Khongor Sand Dunes

Driving:  20 km 
Hiking:  10 km - Easy 

After breakfast, we will visit a camel breeder family and ride a two-humped camel. After lunch, we’ll drive to a small green oasis at the foot of the dunes. In the evening, we will climb to the top of the largest Sand dunes. From the dunes the view of the surrounding desert is amazing. Enjoy the beautiful sunset in Gobi. Stay overnight in a ger at tourist camp.

Day 4. Flaming Cliffs - Bayan Zag

Driving:  150 km - 4
Hiking:  10 km - Easy 

Following breakfast, a journey takes us to Bayanzag, brilliantly colorful cliffs, the most important place for finding the first discovery of dinosaur petrified eggs in the world that was made by American scientist, Roy Andrews Chapman in 1922. On the way, we take a short hike up to Khavtsgait mountain to discover petroglyphs of Khavtsgait. We'll enjoy thousands of brilliant rock arts created by ancient human in the Gobi desert. Once we reach to Flamming Cliffs, we will hike through the cliffs to explore around. Enjoy the stunning view of the sunset in this hidden corner of Gobi Desert. Stay overnight in a tent near to the ciffs.

Day 5. Ongi's Monastery

Driving:  120 km - 3 h
Hiking:  5 km - Moderate

We’ll leave the South Gobi  to Ongi Monastery in the north where 1000 lamas used to meditate and to study Buddha’s teaching. This area is one of the energy gathering points among locals. Energy of this majestic area and comfort of VIP camp make us relaxed and energetic. We will take a short walk to explore the ruins of the Monastery and to see the sunset views from the nearby cliffs. Enjoy the last day in Gobi. Stay overnight in a ger.

Day 6. Visit the former Mongolian capital, Kharkhorin

Driving:  290 km -  8 h

Today is the longest driving day. We will leave Gobi Desert and head to forest zone. Continue our journey to Kharkhorin town, former capital of the Mongol Empire. The legendary city was founded by Chingis khan in 1220. One of the Mongolian oldest and attractive monasteries Erdene Zuu, was built in 1585 by Abtai Sain Khan, is located there.  Once we reach Kharkhorin, we will visit Erdene Zuu Monastery, the Museum of Kharkhorum and local market place. Accommodate near from the town in a peaceful eco ger camp and relax.

Day 7. Among the nomads at Orkhon Valley

Orkhon Waterfall

Driving:  120 km - 4 h

We will head to to reach the camp of our homestay family in the Orkhon Valley, is inscribed as a World Heritage by UNESCO that nomads had been living since the prehistoric period. The picturesque landscapes, surrounded by the verdant Khangai Range, the rich fauna and flora, make this area the perfect place for a summer camp by nomads. We'll meet the family and experience a nomadic way of life for next two days. We can attend their daily duties such us milking a mare and yak, playing anklebones with children. Stay overnight in a guest ger a of nomad family.

Day 8. Riding to the Orkhon Waterfall

Riding: 15 km 

We'll ride from the family camp to discover the Orkhon Waterfall. The waterfall is on the Ulaan River cascades from an impressive height of 20 m (52.49 ft), formed 20 000 years ago, a result of a unique combination of earthquakes and volcano eruptions. We'll have a picnic lunch there and spend a day. Stay overnight in a same ger at the family camp, surrounded with forest of larch and overlooked Khangai Mountains. We can attend the preparation of Mongolian barbecue, khorkhog.

Day 9. Enjoy a hot spa at Tsenkher Hot Spring

Driving: 110 km - 5 h

After breakfast, we will drive  to Tsenkher hot spring. It is the sulfur spring, emerges from the ground that has been using as traditional treatment for centuries. In a pleasant verdant wooded area, ger camps offer baths with a suitable temperature for the guests. Possibly enjoy a massage therapy. Staying overnight in a ger here.

Day 10. Khorgo Volcano and White Lake National Park  

Khorgo Volcano & White Lake National Park

Driving: 210 km - 5 hours

The Journey takes towards to reach Khorgo volcano and White Lake National Park. The Lake with relatively pure fresh water, is 16 km wide, about 4-10 meters deep with its deepest point at 28 meters and over 20 km in a length. This volcanic lake was created thousands of years ago, by lava flows from the nearby the volcano. Khorgo is an extinct volcano, which lies east of the lake.  Stay overnight in a tent.

Day 11. Hiking through the National Park

Khorgo Volcano & White Lake National Park

Hiking:  25 km  - Moderate

After breakfast, we will begin hiking to a volcanic crater, the Khorgo at 2100 m. From the summit, there opens splendid views over the landscape and the lake. Hiking in this area is amazing where you could relax you well. After 6 hours walk through National park, we will reach the Ger camp in the shore of the lake and check in. We can go for swimming.

Day 12. Pass Tarvagatai Mountain Range 

Zuun Lake

Driving: 250 km - 6 h

After breakfast, we head to the  Zuun Lake in Shine Ider village of Khuvsgul province. Further north our route lies through the wooded slopes of Khangai Mountain Ranges, through dramatic landscapes of the central Mongolia. We will pass Orookh's Pass at altitude 3021 m in Tarvagatai Mountain Range. Have a picnic lunch and sleeping overnight in a tent with great view of Zuun Lake.

Day 13. Khuvsgul Lake via Murun city

Driving: 200 km - 6 h

Another day of driving through beautiful landscapes finally will bring us to the Lake Khuvsgul, in the northwest of Mongolia near the Russian border, at the foot of the eastern Sayan Mountains. The Lake is about at 1100 m above the sea level, 136 km long and 262 m deep, Mongolia's deepest lake. It is the second-most voluminous freshwater lake in Asia and holds almost 70% of Mongolia's fresh water and 0.4% of all the fresh water in the world. Mongolians call lake Khuvsgul the Ocean Mother. on the way, we will stop at Murun city to buy the supply for next days. Stay overnight in a ger at the camp.

 Day 14. Hiking up to The Khyasaa Mount

Khuvsgul Lake

Driving: 30 km - 1 h 
Hiking:   20 km -  Moderate

After breakfast, we will take a short drive to reach startpoint of the hiking. We will take a packed lunch and hike up to Khyasaa Mount in northwest of  the lake. The Khuvsgul lake is surrounded by beautiful mountain range, Khoridol Saridag. The 3 hours trail up to the summit of the Mount at 3200 m give us a chance to enjoy the brilliant view of the lake and wilderness of the sourrounding Mountains. After lunch, we will walk down to reach the camp spot in the shore of the lake. Overnight stay in a tent.

Day 15, 16. Hiking along the shores

Khuvsgul Lake

Hiking:   20 km -  Moderate

After breakfast, we will load horses and begin three days hiking along shores of the lake to Khatgal. Khuvsgul lake is known as Asian Switzerland and the Asian blue pearl. It is 1645 m above sea level, surrounded by 3000-3200 m high mountains, formed about 7 million years ago. Over 46 streams pour into Khuvsgul Lake, 12 species of fish, 4 large islands, and 70 percent of the lake is more than 100 m deep, clear water reaches 24 m. By the end of the November, water freezes completely 1 m thick ice. We will stay overnight in a tent for two nights.

 Day 17. Discover the Khusel's Island

Driving: 30 km

In the afternoon, we reach Khatgal village and check in a hostel and take a rest. Before dinner we will take a ferry tour to Khusel Island then take a short walk around to discover the village. Overnight stay in a hostel at Khatgal.

Day 18. Fly back to Ulaanbaatar

Murun - Ulaanbaatar

Driving: 100 km - 1 h
Flight:  1 hour

We’ll drive 100 km (13 miles) until Murun town for the flight to Ulaanbaatar. Our driver’ll pick up from the airport. With your guide you can go and shop in the centre of the city.
